Welcome!OfficeHello! Welcome to Buffalo River Cabins. We now have 5 fully equipped cabins available for rent: the Big Buffalo Cabin, the Heart Pine, the Chinquapin, the Bodark, and the Buffalo Country cottage. We also have the Dogwood and the Redbud camping cabins. Please read on for further information!

History

Cabins available! The Big Buffalo cabin was built in 1984 - 1985 by my cousin, Danny Lynch, and his father, U. D. Lynch. When Danny built the cabin, he logged the timber from Burley Baker’s land on Highway 14 where the Caney General Store was located until it burned in 1996. This timber was used for all the horizontal logs. The upright vertical logs were found down on Water Creek at the Mill Pond Hole where they had been buried for almost 100 years. This big cabin is a true log cabin with a tin roof and a wrap-around front porch.
Just finished in May, 2007, with the help of many friends, is the Heart Pine log cabin. Built by Steve Elliot, it is made of notched, hand-hewn, pine logs. It has a rock fireplace and front porch and back porch with cedar posts and a cedar shake roof. It is a gorgeous cabin and we hope lots of memories will be made in it!
The Chinquapin cabin, in a duplex with the Bodark cabin, has been many things, one of which was a restaurant run by my mother for several years. It looks much different today but still has a lot of memories in it. A large front porch has been added on and provides lots of entertainment. Chinquapins are trees native to the Ozarks and they are becoming very rare.
Tie SlideThe Bodark cabin shares a roof with the Chinquapin but the porches face opposite directions. “Bodark” is the name of a tree and the bar in this cabin is made from a slab of Bodark wood.
The Dogwood and the Redbud were just completed in June 2006. Camping cabins are becoming very popular in remote areas.
The Buffalo Country cottage has satellite TV.

Info

All of the cabins have rock-lined firepits outside—great for roasting marshmallows!  Towels and bed linens are provided in all the cabins except the Dogwood and Redbud.
The cabins are two miles from the river bridge and three miles from the Buffalo Point swimming area.
